Diversity and Inclusion

Children learn best when they are known, valued, respected, connected and safe, which is why we advocate for the dignity, well-being, and sense of belonging of each student and family. On of our four core values is "Diverse Community" because it's essential to a well-rounded education that promotes intellectual curiosity, academic excellence and moral growth. It's also part of our identity as an Episcopal school.

Cultural celebrations like Diwali give students opportunities to celebrate and learn about different cultures and religious traditions.

Diversity in All Its Forms

Of course, when we say "diversity," we mean much more than racial and ethnic diversity, though those are the most visible examples. It also can mean differences in things like culture, religion, perspectives, or socioeconomic status. We are a community of different backgrounds and voices. Celebrating our differences and commonalities deepens our understanding connection to ourselves, to one another, and to God.

Ethnicity is the most visible aspect of a diverse community, but there are so many other factors to consider! Just as important are things like culture, religion, political perspectives, socioeconomic status, and many more.

"By exploring social and moral issues, students begin to evaluate critically their own beliefs and biases. They learn from the perspectives and experiences of others, grapple with complexity, and develop the skills to become contributing members of a global and pluralistic society."

Types of Initiatives

Curriculum

We give students opportunities to explore different human stories, experiences, and identities. We promote an inclusive and safe learning environment where kids can bring their whole selves.

Cultural Celebrations

Throughout the year, Trinity hosts special celebrations for various cultures. These events are meant to educate, inspire, and unite! Examples include Hanukkah Diwali, Dia de Los Muertos, Lunar New Year

Guest Speakers

We invite special guests to share their stories so we may learn how we are much more alike than different and how we can work together for the greater good. We want our students to hear, learn and understand different voices so they can grow up to become thoughtful community leaders.

Professional Development

Conversations around diversity can be sensitive and complex. Our goal is to create a culture of growth and belonging. With resources ranging from books to workshops, we offer our faculty and staff opportunities to come together through those difficult conversations.

Nondiscrimination Policy

As a division of Trinity Episcopal School of Austin, Blue House Preschool admits qualified students regardless of race, color, nationality, ethnicity, religion, physical disability, socioeconomic status, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, nationality, ethnicity, religion, physical disability, socioeconomic status, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation in the administration of any policies or programs generally accorded or made available to students at the school.
