A Division of Trinity

Blue House Preschool is a division of Trinity Episcopal School of Austin, alongside Lower School (grades K–4) and Middle School (grades 5–8) Trinity delivers a student-centered, evidence-based curriculum in a highly supportive and challenging environment. Our preschool students benefit from the resources and staff of one of the top independent schools in Austin, Texas.

We will nurture each child academically, physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. We will honor each child's spirit for learning and life, ever mindful that we are all children of God.

Through our Buddies program, PK Four and Bridging K students are paired with fourth-grade mentors and enjoy playdates on Trinity's K–8 campus.

Three Divisions, One Community

Blue House Preschool connects to the northern side of Trinity's K–8 campus, and the programs are connected, too! One example is Buddies, a mentorship program that pairs PK Four and Bridging K students with fourth graders. Another example is Chapel, a key aspect of Trinity's identity as an Episcopal School. Starting in the spring of PK Two, preschoolers participate in weekly, age-appropriate Chapel services, led by Trinity's chaplain, where they learn about the concept of community and develop social-emotional skills. Preschoolers also have access to Trinity's campus including playground areas, hiking trails, and nature preserve.

Preschool families must reapply to kindergarten at Trinity.

Our families are an integral part of the Trinity community! However, the application processes are separate, and admission into Blue House Preschool does not guarantee admission into Trinity Episcopal School. We recognize that each child is unique and substantial changes occur in the development of children ages 2–5, and therefore, we cannot guarantee that acceptees into Blue House Preschool will automatically be accepted to Trinity Episcopal School.

Trinity is led by Head of School Jennifer Morgan, who started in 2000 as one of the school's first kindergarten teachers ever! Jennifer worked on the Admission Team and served as Head of Lower School before becoming Head of School in 2020.

Our Story

Blue House Preschool was founded in January 2021, but as a division of Trinity Episcopal School, its roots go back more than 20 years before that.

In the fall of 1999, two teachers and a dozen students began a new school year in a two-story home painted pastel-blue. The mission was clear: to nurture each child's academic, social, physical, and spiritual growth. Trinity literally began in a blue house, and the name "Blue House Preschool" is an homage to those humble beginnings. It's a fitting name for the division where the educational journey begins!

Trinity quickly outgrew the blue house, ballooning to more than 100 students after a single year. Trinity moved to its current campus in the spring of 2001, and the entire school was housed in one building, Blue House Hall. Fast forward to today, and there are about 650 students and 150 faculty and staff across all three divisions: Preschool, Lower School (grades K–4) and Middle School (grades 5–8).

“Trinity had considered the idea of incorporating an early-childhood program for many years, as preschool preparatory curriculum dovetails well with our K-8 model,” said Head of School Jennifer Morgan. Jennifer has led Trinity since 2020, and she previously served as Head of Lower School. She was also one of the school's original kindergarten teachers in 2000.

Blue House Preschool was accredited by Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS) and Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools (SAES) on January 5, 2022 after being delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. As of the 2023-2024 academic year, there are 93 students enrolled at Blue House Preschool. The preschool offers a research-based, full-day program with an exceptionally low student-teacher ratios of 4:1 for PK Two, 7:1 for PK Three, 10:1 for PK Four, and 6:1 for Bridging K.

Polly Williams became Head of Preschool in the summer of 2023. Polly had previously served as the Director of Admission for Trinity Episcopal School and Blue House Preschool for three years. Before that role, she spent seven years as an Early Learning Principal at an independent school in Atlanta, Georgia.

Today, Trinity is a PK–8 school with about 650 students and 150 faculty and staff. While the numbers and setting have changed dramatically, we remain true to our commitment of "Each Child, Each Day" and the four core values that guided founder Jane Hill: Christian Foundation, Enriched Academic Excellence, Diverse Community, and Family Commitment.
