Our Story

Blue House Preschool is located on a shady, 2.3-acre campus in West Lake Hills, Texas, just 5 miles from downtown and near two major highways (MoPac Expressway and 360 Loop), which makes us easily accessible but also gives us privacy and security. The campus is equipped with a pool, gymnasium, and three playgrounds. The program serves ages 2–4, and we offer a kindergarten bridge program for kids who could benefit from a little extra time. We deliver a curriculum based on the latest research and common sense in a welcoming and nurturing environment.

Blue House Preschool is a division of Trinity Episcopal School of Austin. Trinity purchased a preschool adjacent to its main campus in late 2019 and renamed it in 2020. 'Blue House' is a reference to Trinity's history, which literally began in a blue house in 1999 with 13 first graders and two teachers.

The 'Blue House'

Blue House Preschool is an integral part of the Trinity family. For example, The Rev. Ken Malcolm, Trinity's chaplain, visits campus twice a week for a morning chapel service, aligning with Trinity's mission to nurture the whole child — academically, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Furthermore, preschoolers are paired with Trinity 4th graders as part of a mentorship program. These integrations are designed to facilitate learning and foster community, from pre-K to 8th grade.

Though Blue House and Trinity are intertwined in many ways, an exception is the admission process, which is separate and does not guarantee admission into Trinity Episcopal School. The admission processes are separate because of the substantial changes that occur in brain development around age 4. The pace of development varies dramatically from child to child, so we reassess each student beginning in kindergarten.

We will nurture each child academically, physically, emotionally and spiritually. We will honor each child's spirit for learning and life, ever mindful that we are all children of God.

Trinity serves more than 620 students — from 2-year-olds to 8th graders — and employs more than 120 faculty and staff, and the campus has expanded from one converted house to nine buildings on 25 acres. The school has come a long way since the original blue house, but we named the preschool after that humble origin to remind us that the mission remains the same. While the numbers and setting have changed dramatically, Trinity remains true to its commitment of "Each Child, Each Day" and the four core values that guided founder Jane Hill: a strong Christian foundation, enriched academic excellence, a diverse community and a commitment to family.

A preschool preparatory curriculum dovetails well with Trinity's K-8 model, and according to head of school Jennifer Morgan, Trinity had considered incorporating an early-childhood program for many years. On January 5, 2022, Blue House Preschool received accreditation from Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS) and Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools (SAES).
